1.0                            OBJECTIVE

1.1                            To lay down a standard procedure to be followed for the Operation, Maintenance, and Calibration of Quick Freezer (-40⁰C)……… in Animal House Facility.

2.0                            SCOPE

2.1                            This Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) shall be applicable for operation, maintenance and calibration of Quick Freezer (-40⁰C) ………. in Animal House Facility.

5.0                            PROCEDURE

5.1                            Installation

5.1.1                    Ensure that the instrument is clean and free from dust and placed in a safe area.

5.1.2                    The distance between the air outlet and the wall should be a minimum of 200 mm.

5.1.3                    Ensure the stability and leveling of the instrument.

5.1.4                    Ensure instrument connected to the correct electrical supply and use of good quality stabilizer as mentioned in Instrument’s User’s Manual.

5.2                         Operating Procedure

5.2.1                   Press the main switch to the ‘ON’ position and see that the lamp is illuminated.

5.2.2                   Set the required temperature by pressing the “PUSH” and then by rotating the “SET” knob.

5.2.3                   Depending on the temperature required cooling will start till the set temperature is reached.

5.2.4                    Record Quick Freezer temperature daily during morning and evening and make data entry in Format No. F…………………...

5.3                         Calibration

5.3.1                    Calibration of the Quick Freezer (-40 ⁰C) shall be carried out by the outside agency.

5.3.2                    Calibration shall be done once in a year or as per requirement and calibration label shall be updated subsequently.

5.4                          Maintenance

5.4.1                    Clean the chamber and shelves at regular intervals.

5.4.2                    Allow the Quick Freezer to defrost every week by switching off the Unit for at least 2 hours.

5.4.3                    Contact authorized skilled engineer for any operational failure.
