To lay down the procedure for fumigation in the Production area.
2.0 SCOPE
This SOP shall be applicable for fumigation in the Production area in Microbiology Lab.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY
3.1 Microbiologist and above shall be responsible for the preparation and execution of this SOP
3.2 QC & QA Head shall be responsible for the checking and approval of this SOP.
3.3 HOD shall be responsible for the authorization of this SOP.

5.0 PROCEDURE
5.1 Fumigation shall be carried out once a week at the end of the production and whenever required.
5.2 Production person shall ensure that raw material, finish goods, intermediates, or in-process goods shall not be present in the area of fumigation.
5.3 If materials present shall be cover with polythene bags.
5.4 Nose mask and goggles shall be used while doing fumigation as Gramicid/ Silviside is irritating to the human eye.
5.5 Windows, doors shall be closed; AHU’s shall be switched off before starting fumigation.
5.6 Ensure that the required quantity of solution shall be placed in the fogger and switch “ON” the fogger.
5.7 After fumigation of the area is complete, fogger shall be switch “OFF” and affixed the label as
“Area under fumigation, do not enter”, fumigation fumes shall stay about 6-7 hrs.
5.8 After the specified time of fumigation is over, enter the area only by starting exhaust for about 30 Minutes.
5.9 Cleaning shall be done before processing any product in the concerned area.
5.10 After 30 minutes, AHU shall be started and allow stabilizing to attain the required temperature and humidity then start the routine production operation.
5.11 Fumigation record shall be maintained
