SOP FOR OPERATION OF FUME HOOD

1. Objective: To lay down the procedure for operation of the Fume hood

2. Instrument Details:

3. Procedure:

· Enter into the instrument logbook. (In & out time).

3.1. Switch On

· Connect the power supply.

· Switch “ON” the main power supply and instrument mains

3.2 Switch Off

· Check the airflow of the fume hood as per specified limits.

· SWITCH OFF the instrument at the end of experiments.

4. Unattended Operations of instruments:

· Can be operated for a definite period of time.

· Overnight operations are allowed but with periodic supervision.

5. Cleaning:

· Wipe the surface and nearby area so that there will be no dust or spillage.

6. Precautions for use:

· Ensure that flammable solvent or hazardous solvent is not stored in an open vessel.

· Ensure that incompatible chemicals/solvents are not stored together in the fume hood.

· Ensure that the fume hood is on while an experiment is running.

· Ensure that you have switched off it after use.
