1.0 PURPOSE
The purpose of the document is to establish a method for the determination of Total Solid In Asava/Arista.
2.0 SCOPE
This standard testing procedure is suitable for the method for determination of Total Solid In Asava/Arista.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY
The expert and trained chemist are responsible for following this procedure. The technical manager is responsible for implementing this procedure
4.0 REQUIREMENTS
4.1 Apparatus
4.1.1 Evaporating Dish
4.1.2 Hot air oven.
4.1.3 Water bath
4.2 Glassware
4.2.1 Desiccator
4.3 Reagent
N.A.
5.0 PROCEDURE FOR TOTAL ASH
5.1 Transfer accurately 50 ml of the clear Asava/Arista in an Evaporating dish, which has been dried to a constant weight.
5.2 Evaporate to dryness in the water bath.
5.3 Dry at 1050 for 3 hours.
5.4 Cool the dish containing the residue in a desiccator for a minimum of 30 minutes.
5.5 Weight the sample immediately to a constant weight.
.
Total solid % (w/v)= (W1-W)/V ×100
Where,
W = Weigh of the empty dish,
in g
W1 =Weigh of
dish+ sample after drying, in g
V = Volume of the sample taken for test, in ml
