PROCEDURE
5.1
Cleaning
5.1.1 Ensure that power supply to the IR Moisture Balance is
switched ‘OFF’ before cleaning and the plug shall be removed from the socket.
5.1.2
IR Moisture Balance shall be kept on a
clean table/platform.
5.1.3
Platform of IR Moisture Balance shall be wiped with a dry lint the free cloth on a daily basis so that there will be no dust particles on the IR
Moisture Balance.
5.2
Operation
5.2.1
Ensure that the power supply to IR Moisture Balance is switch “ON”.
5.2.2
Ensure that the visible light shall be “ON” for visualization
of scale reading.
5.2.3
Ensure that Set the Zero % coincidence and 100 % by rotating
the knob in such a way that the marked line, the pointer, and the 100 % mark
shall be coinciding with one another.
5.2.4. Ensure that raise the lamp
housing and care shall distribute the test material on the sample pan until
the Pointer returns to the index.
5.2.5
Ensure that lower the lamp housing and shall be turned on the
infrared lamp by means of the toggle switch (left side).
5.2.6
Ensure that readjust
the auto-transfer control to the proper setting for the specific material shall
be tested. If the proper drying temperature (and therefore the auto transfers setting)
is unknown, It shall be determined for each different material and this shall be
accomplished by following the trial and error method.
5.2.7
Ensure that a sample of the specific material to be tested shall
be place on the sample pan.
5.2.8
Ensure for the setting of the auto transfer control, at an
arbitrary setting and shall be turned on the infrared lamp.
5.2.9
The results shall be observing.
5.2.10 Ensure for the discolorations
or smoking of the sample, caused by excessive heat indicates the release of
volatile oil other than moisture, and the sample yields erroneous results.
Repeat the trial at a reduced setting until the proper drying temp. shall be determined.
5.2.11 Ensure that the main switch
of the instrument shall be “OFF” after testing.
5.2.12 Calibration Procedure
Calibration of IR Moisture The balance shall be done by the external party on an annual frequency.
