STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE FOR PROCEDURE FOR DISPOSAL OF TEST SAMPLES

1.0 OBJECTIVE

To lay down the procedure for disposal of the test samples.

2.0 SCOPE

This SOP shall be applicable for disposal of the test samples (R.M, I.P, F.P & P.M). in Chemistry Lab.

3.0 RESPONSIBILITY

3.1 Chemist and above shall be responsible for the preparation and execution of this SOP

3.2 QC & QA Head shall be responsible for the checking and approval of this SOP.

4.0 ACCOUNTABILITY

5.0 PROCEDURE

5.1 Solid sample the leftover sample or sample after the analysis shall be collect or deposit into the ‘Solid waste bin’ container.

5.2 Liquid sample shall be collect or deposit into the ‘Liquid waste bin’ container.

5.3 The liquid waste sample shall be poured slowly into the waste bin to avoid spillage or fumes evaporation.

5.4 An empty bin shall be kept to replace the filled one at any time to collect the waste.

5.5 The spillage shall be clean on the surface of the container immediately during usage.

5.6 The filled waste bin shall be store in the designated location and send to the outside container for disposal.

5.7 All packaging material (labels, corrugated boxes, laminates and bottles, etc.) after analysis shall be store in the designated location and send it to the scrap yard for disposal on weekly basis.

5.8 Precautions

5.8.1 Ensure that proper personal protective equipment like hand gloves and nose masks shall be used during handling.

5.8.2 Trained Laboratory personnel shall handle the waste of samples after analysis.

5.8.3 The container shall not be close tightly.

5.8.4 The sample waste shall not be drained into the sink.
