STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE FOR ENTRY AND EXIT PROCEDURE INTO MICROBIAL TESTING ROOM

1.0 OBJECTIVE

To lay down the procedure for entry and exit procedure in the microbial testing room.

2.0 SCOPE

This SOP shall be applicable for entry and exit procedure in the microbial testing room in Microbiology Lab.

3.0 RESPONSIBILITY

3.1 Microbiologist and above shall be responsible for the preparation and execution of this SOP

3.2 QC & QA Head shall be responsible for the checking and approval of this SOP.

3.3 HOD shall be responsible for the authorization of this SOP.

4.0 ACCOUNTABILITY

5.0 PROCEDURE

5.1 Before entering the gowning area all jewelry/ornaments shall be removed from the body and wash out make-up on the body part.

5.2 Ensure for the entry into the first airlock wearing uniform issued by the company including apron cap, mask, and rubber slippers.

5.3 After that enter into the second airlock and sanitize hands with freshly prepared 70 % IPA.

5.4 Put on sterile gloves with utmost care in such a way that fingertips shall not be touch the outer part of the gloves.

(A) Sterile dress shall be put on in the following sequence

(B) Sterile bootee

(C) Sterile Nasal mask and sterile head cover (cap)

(D) Sterile apron.

5.5 Ensure that the sterile apron sleeves are completely inserted inside the gloves.

5.6 Now enter in the microbial testing room.

5.7 For Exit

5.7.1 Come out from the M.L.T room into the airlock.

5.7.2 Sterile dress shall be put off. after testing.

5.7.3 Hood, nasal mask, and gloves shall be discarded in separate plastic buckets kept in the first airlock.

5.7.4 come out of the airlock.
