1.0 PURPOSE

The purpose of the document is to establish a general and uniform method for energy value and carbohydrates.


2.0 SCOPE

This standard testing procedure is suitable for the determination of energy value and carbohydrates.


3.0 RESPONSIBILITY

The expert and trained chemist are responsible for following this procedure. The technical manager is responsible for implementing this procedure.

5.1 Ash: STP for Determination of  Total Ash and Acid Insoluble Ash (Click the link)

5.2 Loss on drying: STP for Determination of loss on drying by Oven Drying Method (Click the link)

5.3 Fat: STP for Determination of fat by Gerber Method (Click the link)

5.4 Protein: STP for Determination of protein for food and feed (Click the link)

6.0 CALCULATION

Carbohydrate % : 100-(Ash % + Loss on Drying % + Fat % + Protein %)

Energy value in Kcal/100 gm = 4 (Carbohydrate + Protein ) + 9 x Fat
