1. Triple Therapy (14-day regimen)
Drugs:
- Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI) (e.g., Omeprazole) – twice
daily
- Clarithromycin – 500 mg twice daily
- Amoxicillin – 1 g twice daily
(or Metronidazole 500 mg twice daily if penicillin allergy)
Duration: 14 days (sometimes 10 days in
practice)
Note: PPI helps in ulcer healing and
increases antibiotic efficacy by raising gastric pH.
2. Bismuth-Based Quadruple Therapy
(14-day regimen)
Drugs:
- Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI) – twice daily
- Bismuth subsalicylate/subcitrate – 120 mg four times
daily
- Tetracycline – 500 mg four times
daily
- Metronidazole – 500 mg three to four
times daily
Duration: 14 days
Note: Used in clarithromycin-resistant
cases or after triple therapy failure.
