OBJECTIVE
To lay down the procedure for operation of Hot Plate Apparatus
2.0
SCOPE
This SOP shall be applicable to Hot Plate Apparatus used
in QC Dept.
3.0
RESPONSIBILITY
3.1
Chemist QC and above
shall be responsible for the preparation and execution of this SOP
3.2
Sr. Chemist QC & above
and QA Head shall be responsible for the checking and approval of this SOP.

ACCOUNTABILITY

5.0 PROCEDURE
5.1 Cleaning
5.1.1 Ensure that the power supply to the Hot plate apparatus is switched ‘OFF’ before
cleaning and plug shall be removed from the socket.
5.1.2
Hot plate apparatus shall be kept on a clean table/platform
5.2 Operation
5.2.1
Ensure
that the “Heat” knob shall be at the “OFF” position.
5.2.2
Ensure
that the instrument shall be connected to the mains and switch “ON”.
5.2.3
Ensure
that the instrument. Toggle switch shall be “ON”.
5.2.4
Ensure
that the line indicator bulb (red) shall glow.
5.2.5
Ensure
that set the “HEAT” knob shall be specified temperature.
5.2.6
Ensure
that the second indicator bulb (red) shall be stopped glowing when the hot Plate
attains the set temperature.
5.2.7
Ensure
that the “HEAT” knob shall be rotated to “OFF” position, after heating the
material.
5.2.8
Ensure
that the instrument Toggle switch shall be “OFF”.
5.2.9
Ensure
that the instrument main switch shall be “OFF”.
5.2.10 Calibration Procedure
Calibration of Hot plate
apparatus shall be done by external
party on an annual frequency
