STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE FOR CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE OF REFRIGERATOR  

1.0              OBJECTIVE

To lay down the procedure for the cleaning and maintenance of the refrigerator.

2.0              SCOPE

This SOP shall be applicable for cleaning and maintenance of the refrigerator in the Microbiology Lab.

3.0              RESPONSIBILITY




3.1              Microbiologists and above shall be responsible for the preparation and execution of this SOP

3.2              QC & QA Head shall be responsible for the checking and approval of this SOP.

4.0              ACCOUNTABILITY

5.0              PROCEDURE

5.1              Cleaning

5.1.1         Ensure that the power supply to the refrigerator is switched OFF.

5.1.2         All the contents shall be removed from the refrigerator and store in an A.C. room.

5.1.3         Ensure the defrost of the refrigerator.

5.1.4         Inside and outside of the refrigerator shall be mopped with 1 % detergent solution.

5.1.5         Again mop with water and dry with a clean cloth.

5.1.6      Ensure that the power supply to the refrigerator is switched ON” and allow the temperature to reach  a constant value

5.1.7         All the items shall be replaced back into the refrigerator.

5.1.8   Calibrated thermometers shall be placed inside the refrigerator for the monitoring of the temperature.

5.1.9         The temperature of the refrigerator shall be maintained in the range between 2 – 8 OC.

5.1.10     Frequency: Cleaning shall be done once a week.

5.2              Maintenance

5.2.1         Ensure that the refrigerator shall be checked for the following once a quarter.

5.2.2         Functioning of the compressor shall be checked.

5.2.3        Thermostat functioning cut OFF and cut ON shall be checked.

5.2.4        Insulation of the refrigerator shall be checked for better maintenance.

5.2.5        Condenser and other outer parts shall be cleaned with a blower.

5.2.6        Any deviation observed shall be brought to the notice of the QC Manager, He shall inform to maintenance Department for the checking  of  any electrical/Mechanical fault
