OBJECTIVE

1.1   

To lay down a standard procedure for health and hygiene of personnel.

2.0               

             SCOPE

2.1   

This SOP shall be applicable for ensuring minimum health requirement for employees engaged in working areas in the Quality assurance Department (QAD) and Animal House Facility (AHF).

PROCEDURE



5.1   

New recruited employees shall be referred to the authorized medical officer for a medical examination at his clinic while for annual medical check-up of all employees; the doctor will be called at the premises on a pre-notified date.

5.2   

Medical officer issue Certificate of medical fitness (format no. F…………….) which shall be filed in employee’s personal file.

5.3   

Subsequently once in a year each employee is medically examined by Consultant Physician authorized by (Company Name) for the purpose.

5.4   

The employees should be examined for presence of any serious ailment and contagious disease or physical defect particularly those which are likely to have bearing on the quality of performance on the job.

5.5   

Special attention shall be paid to persons with any disease of communicable nature such as, infectious diseases, enteric disorders, respiratory diseases etc.

5.6   

The doctor shall carry out the medical examination and records shall be maintained as per the format no. F………………..

5.7   

The doctor may refer the candidate to a suitable pathologist for any kind of diagnostic test if required.  

5.8   

All the employees engaged for the job where visual inspection is significant shall be required to undergo eye-sight check up also. They have to make a remark in case of defect in eye sight whether it can be corrected by lens.

5.9   

When an employee reports for work after an absence due to illness involving a communicable diseases to himself/herself, he/she shall not be allowed to commence work till his/her health has been assessed by a competent medical practitioner and with a certificate of fitness to perform the job.

5.10           

Supervisors shall be alert to look for any symptoms of any disease amongst the employees likely to have an adverse effect on the study / and other employee.

5.11           

Combing of hair shall be strictly forbidden in all areas other than rest rooms.

5.12           

No eatable & drinkables shall be consumed or stored in laboratory areas.

5.13           

Spitting in any area of the lab shall be strictly prohibited.

5.14           

Smoking shall be prohibited.

5.15           

Working area shall be kept clean at all times and unwanted articles shall not be allowed to get collected.
