STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE FOR LABELLING OF SOLUTION AND REAGENTS

1.0 OBJECTIVE

To lay down the procedure for Labeling of Solutions and Reagents.

2.0 SCOPE

To ensure the correct identity of the solution and specificity of the reagents.

3.0 RESPONSIBILITY

3.1 Chemist QC and above shall be responsible for the preparation of this SOP.

3.2 Sr. Executive QC shall be responsible for the execution and checking of this SOP.

3.3 Manager QA shall responsible for the approval of this SOP.

3.4 HOD shall be responsible for the authorization of this SOP.

4.0 ACCOUNTABILITY

5.0 PROCEDURE

5.1 Label should be affixed on the reagent / solution bottles in any of the following instances.

5.2 The solution or reagent is prepared for the first time.

5.3 The column for “Date of preparation”, Date of standardization” and “Normality/Morality” is

filled till its maximum capacity.

5.4 If the label is stained, torn or spoilt.

§ Name of the department along with name of company.

§ Name of the solution or reagent.

§ Date of preparation

§ Volume prepared

§ Date of standardization for volumetric solution

§ Normality / Morality of solution

§ Prepared by

§ Shelf life

5.5 The label should contain the following details:

5.5.1 Fill the label details clearly and correctly by referring to the data recorded in the solution

preparation register.

5.5.2 Affix the labels to the bottles.
