STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE FOR OPERATION OF ORBITAL SHAKER

1.0 PURPOSE


To design the standard operating procedure for operation of Orbital Shaker.

2.0 SCOPE

2.1 This SOP shall be applicable for the operation of Orbital Shaker.

3.0 RESPONSIBILITY



3.1 All the users including Scientist(s) and Research associate(s) of invitro department are responsible for implementation of this SOP and maintaining the Orbital Shaker.

4.0 DISTRIBUTION

4.1 The Quality Assurance department responsible to keep SOP ‘Master Copy’ approved through Quality Manager.

4.2 The copy of ‘Control Copy’ of this SOP is being distributed in invitro department and placed near related Equipment/ Instrument as ‘Display Copy’.

6.0 DEFINITIONS

6.1 Definitions

It An orbital shaker has a circular shaking motion with a slow speed (25-500 rpm). It is suitable for culturing microbes, washing blots, and general mixing.

7.0 PROCEDURE

7.1 Ensure that the orbital incubator shaker is properly connected to the power.

7.2 Ensure that the main switch is 'ON' and then the cabinet switch shall be ON.

7.3 Required temperature shall be set and desired rpm by pressing the 'set knob and soft keys.

7.4 Ensure for the temperature shown on digital display. The temperature shall not differ by + 2.5°C.

7.5 In case of any problem with the working of the orbital incubator shaker, take the help of maintenance department.


8.0 PRECAUTIONS

8.1 Switch off the device & disconnect the mains/power plug before starting cleaning.

8.2 Once in a week remove adhered dust by wet mopping using soap solution. Afterwards wipe the surface with a clean dry cloth to remove the moisture.

8.3 The interior surfaces shall be mop with a clean dry cloth, daily.

8.4 Avoid spilling near the instrument.
