SOP FOR GENERAL HOUSE KEEPING OF QUALITY CONTROL

1.0 PURPOSE

2.1 To define the procedure for General House Keeping of Quality Control.

3.0 SCOPE

3.1 This standard operating procedure provides the procedure for the General House Keeping of the Quality Control Department.




4.0 RESPONSIBILITY

4.1 Quality Control Person shall be responsible for:

4.1.1 To initiate and preparation of standard operating procedures.

4.1.2 Training and Monitoring of standard operating procedure.

4.2 Head Quality Control shall be responsible for:

4.2.1 To confirm the content, correctness, and detailing of standard operating procedure.

4.2.2 To ensure the training of this standard operating procedure to all concerned department persons.

4.2.3 To ensure the implementation of the standard operating procedure after training.

4.3 Quality Assurance person shall be responsible for :

4.3.1 To check the standard operating procedure.

4.4 Head Quality Assurance shall be responsible for:

4.4.1 To approve new or revised standard operating procedures.

4.4.2 To ensure the implementation of the defined system.

8.0 PROCEDURE
8.1 The floor of the Quality Control laboratory should be cleaned twice a day, once in the first half of the shift (Approx 9:30 to 11:30 AM) and the other in the second half of the shift (Approx 3:30 to 04:30 PM).

8.2 Each time floor should be first swiped thoroughly with nylon broom and then wash with Detergent and then cleaned with 3.0% solution of Dettol, 3.0% solution of Benzyl Septol or 0.5 % solution of Germitol in DM water in alternate weeks. Cleaning should be done with non-fiber lint-free mops in the following manner.

8.3 Take the cleaning solution in a cleaned empty bucket, in another bucket take the purified water, and take one cleaned empty bucket. Take all three buckets to the area for cleaning. Dip the mop with disinfectant solution, squeeze to remove excess solution in the same bucket and clean the room properly. Now dip the mop in purified water and squeeze to remove the contaminated solution in empty bucket. Once again dip the mop with disinfectant solution, squeeze to remove excess solution in same bucket and clean the area. Repeat the process to clean all the area.

8.4 To clean another area takes the fresh solution to avoid any contamination or avoid uses of contaminated solution for cleaning.

8.5 After every 15 days, walls glass windows; partitions of the Quality Control Department should be cleaned by spraying Colin solution, and then mopping thoroughly with clean cloth.

8.6 Ceilings should be cleaned for cobwebs at least once a week.

8.7 Clean the SOP files and SOP folders, chemical/reagent bottles and media containers once a week

8.8 Instrument should be cleaned per the procedure mentioned in the respective operational and cleaning SOP.

8.9 Cleaning record should be maintained on daily basis as per Format No.: …………

8.10 Quality Control department should be kept clean every time.

8.11 Working table tops should be kept under clean condition.

8.12 Reagents and chemicals should be labeled properly and should be kept at their respective places.

8.13 Personnel working in the Laboratory shall be trained on SOP No.: ………. “Handling and uses of Corrosive, Hazardous, and poisonous laboratory chemicals” to avoid spillage and also accidents due to spillage.

8.14 On spillage immediately inform to all persons in the laboratory to take care and instruct the worker to clean the spillage.

8.15 If spillage occurs due to liquids like acids add a sufficient quantity of pre-acclimated silica granules or absorbent silica and let stand for few minutes, collect the material using hand gloves into a plastic bag & is then send to Scrap Management department. Clean all the working areas by mopping them with water.

8.16 For spillage of solids, remove and discard in the dust bin and then clean all the working area by mop with water.

8.17 For spillage of organic solvents, inform the worker to put on the goggles and mask during cleaning. Clean all the working areas by a mop with water.

8.18 For spillage of liquids like alkali add sufficient quantity of water to dilute it, mop with dry cloth finally and clean all the working area by mop with water.

8.19 While cleaning the area where spillage of poisonous & hazardous chemicals, take precautions as per MSDS of respective chemicals. Clean all the working area by mop with water.

8.20 For water spillage, only mop with dry cloth.
