This standard testing procedure is suitable for the determination of pH measurement in Choorna/Kvatha Choorna.
2.0 PURPOSE
The purpose of the document is to establish a method for pH measurement in Choorna/Kvatha Choorna.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY
The expert and trained Chemist are responsible for following this procedure. The technical manager is responsible for implementing this procedure.
4.0 REQUIREMENTS
4.1 Apparatus
4.1.1 pH Meter
4.2 Glassware
4.2.1 Beaker
4.2.2 Volumetric Flask (100ml)
4.2.2 Glass rod
4.2.3 Funnel
4.3 Reagent
4.3.1 Buffer solution (4.01, 7.0, and 10.01)
4.3.2 Filter paper
5.0 PROCEDURE
5.1 Before use, rinse the electrode with distilled water.
5.2 Weigh the sample (as described in the method) into a volumetric flask, add 100ml distilled water(to make 5% solution) & dissolve it properly.
5.3 Filter the solution and take the filtrate into a beaker.
5.4 Calibrate the pH meter by using buffer solutions of 4.01, 7, and 10.01.
5.5 Transfer the electrode to the test solution.
5.6 Record the pH when the reading is stable.
5.7 Rinse the electrode according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
