SOP FOR BACTERIOLOGICAL INCUBATOR | SOP FOR CLEANING, OPERATION & CALIBRATION OF BACTERIOLOGICAL INCUBATOR

 1.0              OBJECTIVE

To lay down the procedure for cleaning, operation & calibration of a bacteriological incubator.

2.0              SCOPE

This SOP shall be applicable for cleaning, operation & calibration of a bacteriological incubator in the Microbiology Laboratory.

3.0              RESPONSIBILITY

3.1             Microbiologists and above shall be responsible for the preparation and execution of this SOP

3.2              QC & QA Head shall be responsible for the checking and approval of this SOP.

5.0              PROCEDURE

5.1              Cleaning

5.1.1     Ensure that the power supply to the incubator is switched OFF.

5.1.2     Incubator shall be dedust daily externally with a clean dry cloth.

5.1.3    Once in a week remove adhered dust by wet mopping using soap solution. Afterward, wipe the surface with a clean dry cloth to remove the moisture.

5.1.4         The interior surfaces shall be mopped with a clean dry cloth, daily.

5.2              Operation

5.2.1         Ensure that the incubator is properly connected to the power supply.

5.2.2         Ensure that the main switch is 'ON' and then the cabinet switch shall be ON.

5.2.3         Required temperature shall be set to 37.0 °C by pressing the 'set knob and soft keys.

5.2.4         Ensure the temperature is shown on a digital display. The temperature shall not differ by +     2.5°C. 

5.2.5     In case of any problem with the working of the incubator, take the help of the maintenance department.

5.3             Calibration of the Instrument

Calibration of the Bacteriological incubator shall be done by the external party on an annual frequency.
