STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE FOR CLEANING / SANITIZATION / STERILIZATION OF REUSABLE PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENTS (PPEs)

1.0 OBJECTIVE

1.1 To lay down a standard procedure to be followed for Cleaning / Sanitization / Sterilization of reusable Person Protective Equipment's (PPEs).

2.0 SCOPE

2.1 This Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) shall be applicable for Cleaning / Sanitization / Sterilization of reusable Person Protective Equipment’s (PPEs) in Animal House Facility

5.0 PROCEDURE

5.1 Cleaning and Sanitization of Aprons

5.1.1 All Aprons shall be sent for washing with detergent followed by sterilization by autoclaving.

5.1.2 Aprons received after cleaning and autoclaving shall be kept in the designated cupboard in change room-2.

5.1.3 Frequency of cleaning and autoclaving shall be twice a week.

5.1.4 For surgical procedures / aseptic procedures freshly cleaned and autoclaved aprons shall be used.

5.1.5 After surgical procedures, necropsy procedure, and euthanasia procedure, aprons shall be disposed of in the “Waste bin for PPEs” kept in change room-2.

5.1.6 Used aprons shall be hanged on the designated place in the corridor area.

5.1.7 Records of cleaning and autoclaving shall be maintained in a format no. F……………………..

5.1.8 For external visitors and auditors aprons shall be disposed of in the “Waste bin for PPEs” kept in change room-2.

5.2 Cleaning and Sanitization of footwear’s

5.2.1 All footwear shall be washed by housekeeping personnel with a detergent solution followed by sanitization with 70% IPA.

5.2.2 Frequency of cleaning and sanitization shall be twice a week.

5.2.3 For surgical procedures / aseptic procedures freshly cleaned and sanitized footwear shall be used.

5.2.4 After surgical procedures, necropsy procedures, and euthanasia procedures, footwear shall be sent for washing and sanitization.

5.2.5 Footwear’s shall be placed always in the designated place in change room-2.

5.2.6 Records of cleaning and sanitization shall be maintained in a format no. F…………………..
