1.0 Purpose
This Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) outlines the procedures for the control, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory equipment and the upkeep of the laboratory environment, including the Refrigeration System, Computers including peripherals, IT and LIS system, Utility including DG set, Fire Extinguishers, Photocopy Machines, Light, and Fixtures.
2.0 Scope
This SOP covers the availability, maintenance, and calibration of the following items within the laboratory environment:

2.5. Refrigeration System
2.6 Photocopy Machines
3.1. Laboratory Manager: Responsible for overall supervision and coordination of equipment maintenance and calibration.
3.2. Laboratory Technicians: Responsible for routine maintenance and ensuring the cleanliness of equipment.
3.3. IT Administrator: Responsible for the IT and LIS systems.
3.4. Facilities Manager: Responsible for utility systems and fire extinguishers.
3.5. Safety Officer: Responsible for fire extinguisher inspections and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
3.6. Maintenance Technicians: Responsible for repairing and servicing equipment.
4.0 Equipment Maintenance and Calibration
4.1. Laboratory Testing Equipment
4.1.1. Routine maintenance: Laboratory technicians should perform routine maintenance as per the manufacturer's guidelines.
4.1.2. Calibration: All testing equipment should be calibrated annually or as per the manufacturer's recommendations. Calibration records must be maintained.
4.2. Refrigeration System
4.2.1. Routine maintenance: The facilities manager should schedule regular maintenance of refrigeration systems to ensure they operate efficiently.
4.2.2. Temperature monitoring: Temperature should be monitored continuously, and any deviations should be promptly addressed.
4.3. Computers including Peripherals
4.3.1. Routine maintenance: The IT administrator should perform regular maintenance of computers and peripherals.
4.3.2. Updates and patches: Keep software and operating systems up to date to ensure security and performance.
4.4. IT and LIS System
4.4.1. Routine maintenance: The IT administrator should maintain and update the laboratory information system and related IT equipment.
4.4.2. Backup and data integrity: Regularly back up data and ensure data integrity.
4.5. Utility including DG Set
4.5.1. Routine maintenance: The facilities manager should schedule routine maintenance for utility systems and DG sets.
4.5.2. Emergency power testing: DG sets should be tested periodically to ensure they function during power outages.
4.6. Fire Extinguishers
4.6.1. Inspection: The safety officer should inspect fire extinguishers regularly to ensure they are in working condition.
4.6.2. Refilling and servicing: Fire extinguishers should be refilled and serviced as per manufacturer recommendations.
4.7. Photocopy Machines
4.7.1. Routine maintenance: Technicians should perform regular maintenance on photocopy machines. 4.7.2. Consumables: Ensure sufficient consumables are available and replace them as needed.
5.0 Environment Condition Upkeep
5.1. Light and Fixtures
5.1.1. Routine checks: Maintenance technicians should regularly check and replace light fixtures as needed.
5.1.2. Energy efficiency: Use energy-efficient lighting where possible to reduce energy consumption.
6.0 Documentation

7.1. All personnel involved in equipment maintenance and calibration should receive appropriate training.
