PROCEDURE

Operating Procedure
5.1.1
If the water bath is not set up already, do a fit
for use inspection and remove any materials that are in the water bath.
5.1.2
Add an appropriate amount of water (preferably
distilled).
5.1.3
Plug in the chord of the instrument to the power source
and switch on the MAINS.
5.1.4
Set the water bath temperature controller knob to
desired temperature and let the temperature reach pre-set value.
5.1.5
Confirm the temperature by using a calibrated
thermometer.
5.1.6
If the water bath is already set up and lower
temperature is required for next use the bath can be cooled by adding cold
water.
5.1.7
Label the water bath with an “IN PROCESS” label.
5.1.8
Remove all the water after use and dry the
instrument before covering the lid.
Notes:
·
When filling the water bath use only distilled
water.
·
Never place metal tube racks or clamps into the
water bath that can get corroded.
·
Adjust the water level carefully since vessels
that is to be added to the water bath will displace the water, increasing the apparent volume of the water bath.
·
Make sure that the tubes or vessels will not
fall over and lose its content/s in the water bath.
·
Tape, pen, and marker tend to come off from
labels in the water bath. Make sure that you are using tape, or markers that
are water-resistant.
·
Set temperature and rheostats can be accidentally
changed.
·
Make sure that you use an independent
thermometer to check the temperature of the water bath.
5.2 Calibration
4.2.1 The water bath calibration shall be done internally with the help of calibrated thermometer.
4.2.2
Calibration
shall be done once in every 6 months or when required (after any major
maintenance work).
4.2.3
Compare
the results with the permitted variation (Acceptance criteria).
4.2.4
