1.0 OBJECTIVE
To lay down the procedure for preparation of IPA 70% v/v in the Microbiology lab.
2.0 SCOPE
This SOP shall be applicable for the preparation of IPA 70% v/v in the Microbiology lab
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY
3.1 Microbiologist and above shall be responsible for the preparation and execution of this SOP.
3.2 QC & QA Head shall be responsible for the checking and approval of this SOP.
4.0 ACCOUNTABILITY

5.0 PROCEDURE
5.1 Firstly, a clean measuring cylinder shall be taken for the measurement of the required quantity of Isopropyl alcohol and water.
5.2 Freshly collected distilled water shall be used for the preparation of IPA 70% v/v solution.
5.3 IPA solution shall be prepared in a proportion of 70:30, Isopropyl alcohol: water respectively.
5.4 Ensure for the assembled and connection of filtration assembly with the vacuum pump.
5.5 Prepared IPA solution shall be filtered through the filtration assembly.
5.6 After the filtration, the prepared IPA solution shall be transferred in a clean bottle.
5.7 All bottles shall be labeled indicating the name of the solution, date of preparation, the signature of the person who prepared it and use it before the date.
5.8 Prepared IPA solution shall be used within 7 days from the date of preparation.
