1. Aim: To lay down the procedure for the operation of FTIR.
2. Responsibility: It is the responsibility of the Technical Assistant, Technical Manager, Quality
Manager, and all those individuals who are working on the instrument.

Procedure:
· Enter
in the log book.
· Switch
on the FTIR machine and System
· Stand
by the machine for 10-15 minutes.
· Make
the pallet of the given sample in KBr.
· Open
the FTIR software on the computer.
· Create a new file for analysis.
· Put
the sample on the bench of FTIR.
· Run
the application for measurement.
· Save
the result file on the computer.
· Switch
off the machine and computer.
· Clean the bench of the machine with ethanol for proper removal of the sample tested.
5.
Precaution:
· Always
run the solid sample in solid phase bench interface while liquid sample run in
bench made for liquid testing
· Avoid
the machine from moisture.
· Testing
of corrosive material done with great care.
