STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE FOR GYRATORY SIEVE SHAKER

 1.0    PURPOSE

The purpose of this document is to carry out the operation of the Gyratory Sieve Shaker.


2.0 SCOPE

This procedure is applicable to the Gyratory Sieve Shaker used in the Laboratory.

3.0 RESPONSIBILITY

Chemists/analysts are responsible for following this procedure. The section In-charge/QC/Quality Manager is responsible for implementing this procedure.


4.0 INSTRUMENTS DETAILS

5.0 PROCEDURE

5.1 Operation.

5.1.1 Place on a level surface and plug the cord into the main supply.

5.1.2 Switch on the Instrument.

5.1.3 Unscrew the upper lid of the sieve holder and remove it by lifting it in an upward direction.

5.1.4 Place the sieves of appropriate mesh size as per the procedure on the platform and replace & tight the screw of the upper lid of the sieve holder.

5.1.5 Adjust the speed of shaking with the help of the knob.

5.1.6 Stop when the operation is finished and remove the sieves.

5.1.7 Return the switch to the ‘OFF’ position once finished.

5.2 Maintenance

5.2.1 Unplug the sieve shaker from its power supply before attempting any cleaning measures.

5.2.2 Use a dry cloth or sponge to clean the outside surface.

5.2.3 Ensure that the working bench is clean.

5.2.4 Ensure that the electrical connections are properly connected.
